Local Category Manager



This Local Category Manager will be responsible for executing procurement & purchasing activities with focus on indirect materials & services. This person will also be responsible for supplier management in terms of relationship management, supplier pool management and regular performance evaluation by closely working with Region, Cluster & Korea Market. He/she will represent the company on behalf of business functions to perform procurement activities and also brings best values to the company by successful negotiations through TCO perspective. It is critical to foster close collaboration with all key stakeholders and business functions to support the procurement brand and outreach with reporting line to the Korea procurement lead. He/she will manage procurement activities & categories for the indirect materials & services within own cluster in addition to supporting the local organization with other strategic procurement activities. He/she will work in close collaboration with cluster/global category manager for appointed category and local management for all other strategic sourcing and contracting initiatives as well as effective management of local supplier relations. He/she will contribute to the development of assigned category and implements the right procurement strategy in close collaboration with business partners within own cluster. The Local Category Manager will secure the supply of goods and services required by the organization to the specified quality, service and cost criteria through the implementation of harmonized and consistent sourcing strategies. Critical success factors encompass implementation of global category strategies within the cluster & local. A business partnership mindset is a must. E-procurement experience/implementation will be an asset

What will you do?


  • Procurement
    • Manage procurement/purchasing activities & categories on indirect materials & services.
    • Set up annual procurement plan through both spend analysis.
    • Set saving target in align with global/regional/cluster target.
    • Closely work with stakeholders to update procurement plan and saving target.
    • Set sourcing strategy of dedicated categories.
  • Tendering process
    • Conduct bidding procedure for dedicated procurement project.
    • Ensure purchasing process is fully comply with internal policy.
    • Make sure to select most competitive supplier to deliver best values to the company.
    • Negotiate with supplier through TCO approach
    • Coordinate PO process (PO creation, payment terms & conditions update, etc.)
    • Contract management
  • Supplier management
    • Manage supplier base in assigned categories.
    • Maintain effective supplier relationship
    • Conduct annual key supplier evaluation
    • Provide global/region/cluster/local with a required support to manage global vendors, where applicable
    • Create evaluation criteria for supplier selection
  • Stakeholder management
    • Conduct bidding & procurement activities on behalf of stakeholders.
    • Maintain good relationship to deliver best result on procurement activities.
    • Continuously guide procurement policy and process to stakeholder.
    • Proactively communicate with stakeholders on bidding progress, result and any troubles.
  • Report & manage KPIs. Regularly maintain procurement related analytical reports by line manager.
  • Support decision making process of the GIP Korea Head and internal Business Partners (perform any other tasks given by line manager)

Who are we looking for?


  • University Degree
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in Indirect Procurement
  • Advanced English (business language) and Korean language fluency is required
  • A strategic thinker
  • Effective at negotiations
  • Has good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Has relevant experience in financial analysis and leadership
  • Possesses business environment knowledge
  • Background in management of internal and external parties
  • Sound decision making, identifying and applying efficiencies.
  • Knowledge and prior experience in MS Office tools and SAP.
